ADHD Toolbox:

Your ADHD toolbox is a vital component to thriving with ADHD. And your toolbox won’t look the same as mine. But here is the place you can find all sorts of tools that you might want to add to your own toolbox.

Whether you are self-diagnosed, recently diagnosed, or diagnosed long ago but never really took the time to understand what ADHD truly is, it may be hard to know what to do first. I’d suggest a friendly game of Getting Started Bingo, below. You don’t have to go in any specific order, but these suggestions will help you on your way to thriving with ADHD. So pick a square and get started. How many squares can you cross off today?

Or you could begin in the library (you don’t even have to be quiet!) or the Glossary of Terms. Choose your adventure. The important thing is to just start learning.

Some of my favorite tools for thriving with ADHD include:

  • Timers: I set timers all day long. HUGE help.

  • Body Doubling: We tend to do our work better when someone is nearby

  • Movement: when I’m feeling emotionally stressed, I take a walk or do a quick workout.

  • Time Blocking: I set up my blocks of time that I’ll need to get things done and I can move those blocks throughout the day, to give myself the flexibility I need.

  • Community: I’m connected to several ADHD communities online which makes me feel like I’m not crazy or losing my mind.
